Let’s take a look at a BASIC search using Subject as
the search option.

LIBRARY OF CONGRESS SUBJECT HEADINGS
Items in the catalog are categorized into groups and given labels or subject
headings.
The Library of Congress determines these subject headings based on the content of the
material and then assigns a word or phrase to the item that best describes its subject matter.
This makes it easier for researchers and individuals to locate books and other material.
INDIVIDUALS AS A SUBJECT
To find information on a particular author or individual, type the individual’s name in the search box
and choose Subject as the search option. This search will retrieve a list of records about that person.
