| Don't assume that because you are using one of our databases,
that we have every article listed. Periodical indexes don't tell you if the library has a particular
journal. But they do give you all the information you need to find the article, such as:
journal title/ volume and date/ starting page. |
IF IT'S NOT AVAILABLE IN FULL TEXT - DOES THE LIBRARY OWN IT ?
Many electronic databases include a feature called "ArticleLinker" like the
one below.
|
 |
| "ArticleLinker" checks the following to determine if the
library owns the particular journal: |
- other electronic databases for the full text
|
- the A-Z list of e-journals for additional information
|
- the library catalog record for print or microform formats of the journal
|
- the online InterLibrary Loan request form
|
|
Now let's say you found the following citation in a periodical index without
ArticleLinker:
"Hispanic Educational Attainment: The Effects of Family
Background and Nativity." By: Wojtkiewicz, Robert A.; Donato, Katharine M..
Social Forces, Dec 95, Vol. 74 Issue 2, p559, 16p, 5 charts
With this information you can search the Fordham Library Catalog to see:
- If the library currently subscribes to the journal.
- If the library has back issues, including the one you need, in either print or microform.
- If the journal is available as an electronic resource.
|
Search the Library Catalog by entering the journal name in the search box
and selecting "Periodical Title" from the pull down menu. |
|
|
The good news is that Fordham owns this journal. |
